Ingredients
  

For pressuer-cooking rice and dal

  • 1 cup raw rice
  • 2 tbsp moong dal
  • 4 cup water
  • ¼ tsp salt

For jaggery syrup:

  • 2 cup jaggery (grated/ powdered)
  • ½ cup water

For pongal:

  • ½ cup ghee
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp cashews
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder

Instructions
 

For pressure-cooking rice and dal:

  • Firstly, take 1 cup of raw rice, and 2 tbsp of moong dal. wash it thoroughly
  • Secondly, Put washed rice and moong dal in a pressure cooker
  • Thirdly, add ¼ tsp salt and 4 cups of water
  • Next, pressure cook it for 5 whistles

For jaggery syrup:

  • Take 2 cups of jaggery in a pan, add ½ cup of water
  • Mix well

For frying cashews and raisins

  • In another pan, heat 2 tbsp of ghee, first, add cashews and then raisins, and fry it, keep aside

For making pongal:

  • After pressure is released, open the lid, mash it masher or with ladle
  • Add jaggery syrup by straining the jaggery syrup over the Pongal, mix well
  • Add ½ cup of ghee over the Pongal,
  • Now, add ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • Finally, Add fried cashews and raisins, and mix well
