Ingredients
  

  • 1 tsp ghee (for roasting dhal)
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
  • 1 cup raw rice
  • ΒΌ cup Moong dhal
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tsp pepper powder

For seasoning:

  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 8 cashew nuts
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • few curry leaves

Instructions
 

  • wash the rice and moong dhal separately, drain all the water completely
  • Heat 1 tsp of ghee in pressure cooker
  • Add the moon dhal, roast it for 5 minutes till you get the nice aroma
  • Now add the rice, and 4 cups of water
  • Cover the lid, pressure cook for 5 whistles
  • After pressure got released, open the lid. Add pepper powder and give it a mix

For seasoning:

  • Heat the ghee in a seasoning pan, add pepper, cumin, cashews, and then turn off the flame. then add curry leaves and asafoetida
  • Pour it over the Pongal we prepared, Now the Pongal is ready
