Ingredients
  

To pressure cook the green gram

  • 1 cup green gram
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 8 shallots
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • ¼ tsp castor oil/ghee
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • cup water
  • salt to taste

For Tempering:

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil/ oil
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 green chilly chopped
  • 2 dry red chilly
  • ¼ tsp asafoetida
  • few curry leaves

Instructions
 

To pressure cook the green gram:

  • To begin, Wash the green gram 2, 3 times
  • Heat the pressure cooker, Add the washed green gram, dry fry it till you get the nice aroma or it changes color slightly
  • Add 2½ cup of water, then add shallots, garlic, tomato
  • Now add ¼ tsp of castor oil.
  • Put ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, mix well
  • Cover the lid and pressure cook for 7 whistles
  • After pressure releases, open the lid, add salt
  • Mash it with a ladle
  • Pour ½ cup of water mix well

For tempering:

  • Heat the 1 tbsp of coconut oil in a pan
  • Add coriander seeds and cumin, fry it till it becomes crisp
  • Now add the chopped green chillies and red chillies
  • turn off the flame, Add asafoetida and curry leaves
  • Pour this tempering mixture in the green gram curry
