Ingredients
  

  • ¼ cup moong dal
  • 1 snake gourd 250 gram
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • A pinch asafoetida
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ cup water
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

soaking moong dal:

  • take ¼ cup of moong dal in a bowl, soak it in hot water for 20 minutes

Chopping snake gourd:

  • scrap the outer skin as much as possible using a knife
  • remove and discard the seed and fibrous portion
  • chop the snake gourd into small pieces and keep aside

for stir fry:

  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan, splutter ½ tsp of mustard seeds, add ½ tsp of cumin seeds, 3 dry red chilly, and curry leaves
  • Next, add 1-onion chopped, saute till onion becomes glossy
  • then add chopped snake gourd, saute
  • now add ¼ tsp of turmeric powder and salt
  • pour in 1/2 cup of water
  • put the lid on, cook in medium flame for 15 minutes (stir at regular intervals)
  • open the lid, give a mix, and it is done
