Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan, add 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds, ¼ tsp cumin seeds, ⅛ tsp of fenugreek seeds, a spring of curry leaves, and a pinch of asafoetida
Now add in chopped spring onions, saute it for 2 minutes,
next, add in 2 tomatoes chopped, saute well
now add ½ tsp of turmeric powder, and salt
And then add the ground sambar powder, mix it for 30 seconds
after that add in ¼ cup of tamarind extract, mix
Now add in cooked dal and 2 cups of water, give a nice mix.
let it boil for 5 minutes and then 1 tsp of jaggeryturn off the flame garnish with chopped spring onions
