Ingredients
  

  • 250 gram onion (thinly sliced) (2 - big onion)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilly powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp carom seeds/ ajwain/ omam slightly crushed
  • pinch Asafoetida
  • few curry leaves (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp water
  • ¾ cup gram flour/besan flour/ kadala maavu
  • 2 tbsp rice flour
  • oil for deep frying

Instructions
 

Resting the sliced onions:

  • Take 250-gram onion (sliced) into a mixing bowl
  • Add 1/2 tsp of salt and mix well
  • Leave it for 15 minutes
  • After 15 minutes water oozed out from the onion slices
  • Now add 1 tsp Kashmiri Red chilly powder, 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp of carom seeds (ajwain/omam), few curry leaves (chopped), 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
    Mix well
  • Then add in ¾ cup of gram flour/ besan flour/ kadalai maavu.
  • Next, add in 2 tbsp of rice flour and mix well until it forms a thick dough
  • Now add 1 tbsp of water and mix,
    Now the batter is ready for frying
  • Drop small portions in the hot oil gently, Keep the flame medium to low
  • Fry it to golden brown colored pakoda and serve with chai
