Firstly wash the tomatoes, slit using a knife at the backside of the tomato
Steam cook for 5 minutes
Cool it down
remove the skin
Blend it into smooth paste
Crush the spices:
Add coriander seeds, cumin, black pepper into a mortar, grind it into a coarse powder, then add garlic cloves, crush it with other spices. collect it from the mortar, keep aside
For making Rasam
Heat the oil in pan, splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves, green chilly, a pinch of asafoetida
Pour the ground paste
Add the crushed spices(cumin, black pepper, coriander seeds, garlic)
mix well, Add some salt
Pour 2 cups of water, heat it in medium flame
when it starts boiling, add sugar. turn off the flame, garnish with coriander leaves
