Ingredients
  

For pressure cooking:
  • ¼ cup moong dal
  • 1 potato (chopped)
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 cup water
For grinding:
  • ¼ cup coconut (shredded)
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 5 cashews (or 1 tbsp roasted gram)
  • 2 green chilly
For making curry:
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil/ oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 onion(chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste/crushed
  • cup water
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves to garnish

Method
 

For grinding:
  1. Firstly, soak 1 tsp of poppy seeds (kasa-kasa), and 5 cashew in the warm water for 10 minutes
  2. In a blender jar, add ¼ cup of shredded coconut, 1 tsp fennel seeds, 1 tsp poppy seeds(soaked), and 5cashews(soake), 2 green chilly
  3. Blend finely with little water, and keep aside
For pressure cooking:
  1. Firstly, In a pressure cooker, add in rinsed ¼ cup moong dal and 1 potato chopped
  2. Secondly, add in ¼ turmeric powder
  3. thirdly, pour in 1 cup of water
  4. Pressure cook for 4 whistles in medium flame
  5. After pressure releases, keep the cooked potato dal mixture aside for later use
For making curry:
  1. Heat 1 tbsp of sesame oil in a pan, add whole spices(1 tsp cumin, 1 bay leaf, 1-inch cinnamon, 3 cloves, few curry leaves
  2. And then add ginger garlic paste/crushed, and chopped onion
  3. saute well, till onion becomes glossy
  4. Pour in 1¼ cup of water, add salt. (firstly add 1 cup of water then add 1/2 cup of water to adjust the consistency you need)
  5. Now add cooked dal and potato mixture, mix well
  6. now bring into boil for 5 minutes
  7. turn off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves
