Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup aval medium
  • 2 tbsp Moong dal
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 cup water
For seasoning:
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp cashews
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 2 green chilly
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp peppercorns
  • pinch asafoetida
  • few curry leaves

Method
 

cooking moong dal:
  1. Firstly, take 2 tbsp of moong dal in a pressure cooker, ¾ cup of water, 1/4 tsp of ghee
    Pressure cook it for 6 whistles, after pressure is released open the lid, and set it aside for later use.
Making aval kara pongal:
  1. secondly, Take 2 tbsp of ghee in a pan, put 1 cup of aval, and roast it in medium flame until the aval puff up
  2. Next, add 2 cups of water, and boil it in medium flame
  3. once the water content evaporates, turn off the flame. add salt at this stage.
seasoning:
  1. Heat 1 tbsp of ghee, roast 1 tbsp of cashews, and add cumin, peppercorns, ginger, and green chili. fry it for a few seconds.
    and add curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida.
