ridge gourd skin chutney

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp chana dal
  • 2 tsp urad dal
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 dry red chilly
  • 2 inch tamarind piece
  • ridge gourd skin
For seasoning:
  • 2 tsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp urad dal
  • few curry leaves
  • a pinch asafoetida

Method
 

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan, add in 2 tsp of chana dal 2 tsp of urad dal, 2 tsp of sesame seeds, 2 dry red chilly, tamarind, saute well
  2. Next, add chopped ridge gourd skin, saute till it becomes soft
  3. then add in 1/2 cup of shredded coconut, mix well
  4. turn off the flame, wait for it to cool, transfer this into a blender jar
  5. Blend it into a smooth paste, transfer it to a serving bowl
For seasoning:
  1. heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, next add urad dal, once it becomes golden brown, turn off the flame, now add a pinch of asafoetida and curry leaves
  2. Pour this seasoning mixture over the chutney
