Ingredients
  

  • 250 gram onion (thinly sliced) (2 - big onion)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilly powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp carom seeds/ ajwain/ omam slightly crushed
  • pinch Asafoetida
  • few curry leaves (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp water
  • ¾ cup gram flour/besan flour/ kadala maavu
  • 2 tbsp rice flour
  • oil for deep frying

Method
 

Resting the sliced onions:
  1. Take 250-gram onion (sliced) into a mixing bowl
  2. Add 1/2 tsp of salt and mix well
  3. Leave it for 15 minutes
  4. After 15 minutes water oozed out from the onion slices
  5. Now add 1 tsp Kashmiri Red chilly powder, 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp of carom seeds (ajwain/omam), few curry leaves (chopped), 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
    Mix well
  6. Then add in ¾ cup of gram flour/ besan flour/ kadalai maavu.
  7. Next, add in 2 tbsp of rice flour and mix well until it forms a thick dough
  8. Now add 1 tbsp of water and mix,
    Now the batter is ready for frying
  9. Drop small portions in the hot oil gently, Keep the flame medium to low
  10. Fry it to golden brown colored pakoda and serve with chai
