rava kichadi | sooji kichadi is an easy and nutritious breakfast food, and also this can be done within 15 minutes. Chutney and sambar would be a good accompaniment for this dish. Cooking this food using ghee makes this delicious, but it can be prepared with oil too.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup rava (fine) / sooji
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp urad dhal
  • 1 tsp channa dhal
  • 8 cashews
  • A pinch asafoetida
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 green chilly (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped) medium-sized
  • ¼ cup carrot
  • ¼ cup beans
  • ¼ cup green peas
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • 2½ cup water

Method
 

  1. take rava/ sooji in a pan, dry fry it for few minutes till you get the nice aroma in low flame
  2. Transfer the rava in a plate or bowl, keep aside
  3. Heat 2 tbsp of ghee in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, cumin. Add urad, channa dhal, cashews curry leaves, green chilly and asafoetida
  4. Fry it for few seconds in medium flame till the dhal gets crisp
  5. Then add in chopped onion, saute it till it becomes translucent
  6. Add the veggies (¼cup carrot, ¼cup beans, ¼ green peas), saute
  7. Now add half salt and ¼ tsp of turmeric powder. Saute it for 2 minutes
  8. Now pour 2½ cup of water, add enough salt at this stage
  9. Bring into a boil
  10. Once it boils, reduce the flame to low, add the fried rava gradually by mixing
  11. keep stir, once the water content absorb by rava, cover it by lid for 4 minutes
  12. then open the lid add a tsp of ghee and coriander leaves, mix well. It is done

Ingredients
First of all, take Rava/ sooji in a pan, dry fry it for few minutes till you get the nice aroma in low flame
Transfer it to plate
Heat 2 tbsp of ghee in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, cumin. Add urad, channa dhal, cashews curry leaves, green chilly and asafoetida
Fry it for few seconds in medium flame till the dhal gets crisp
Then add in chopped onion, saute it till it becomes translucent
Add the veggies (¼cup carrot, ¼cup beans, ¼ green peas), saute
Now add half salt and ¼ tsp of turmeric powder. Saute it for 2 minutes
Now pour 2½ cup of water, add enough salt at this stage
Bring into boil
Once it boils, reduce the flame to low, add the fried rava gradually by mixing
keep stirring

keep stir, once the water content absorb by Rava, cover it by the lid for 4 minutes

lid on in low flame for 4-5 minutes

turn off the flame, Add 1tsp of ghee (optional)

garnish with coriander leaves

Serve with chutney, sambar
