pudhina dhal | mint moong dhal is quite a flavorful dish, we can use this as a side dish for rice as well as chapatis and phulkas.

Ingredients
  

For pressure cooking moong dhal:

  • ½ cup moong dhal
  • 4 garlic cloves (chopped)
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp ghee
  • 1½ cup water

For making mint moong dhal:

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 dry red chilly
  • a pinch asafoetida
  • 1 onion (chopped) medium-sized
  • ½ cup mint leaves (chopped)
  • ½ tsp Kashmiri red chilly
  • salt to taste
  • 1½ cup water

Instructions
 

For pressure cooking moong dhal

  • In a pressure cooker add washed ½ cup of moong dhal, chopped garlic, ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, ¼ tsp of ghee, 1½ cup of water
  • Lid on, pressure cook for 3 whistles in medium flame
  • open the lid after pressure releases and keep aside

For making mint moong dhal:

  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil splutter ½ tsp of mustard seeds, add ½ tsp of cumin, red chilly and asafoetida
  • Add chopped onion, saute it till it becomes glossy
  • Now add chopped 1/2 cup of mint leaves, saute it in low flame for 30 seconds
  • Then add ½ tsp of Kashmiri red chilly powder, mix well for 30 seconds in low flame
  • Now add cooked moong dhal, add salt at this stage
  • pour in 1½ cup of water, mix well bring into a boil, turn off the flame, it is done

Stepwise picture recipe:

Wash the moong dhal keep aside, And also wash and chop the mint leaves and keep aside

once pressure releases, open the lid and keep the dhal aside

Add chopped onion, saute it till it becomes glossy

Now add chopped 1/2 cup of mint leaves, saute it in low flame for 30 seconds
Then add ½ tsp of Kashmiri red chilly powder, mix well for 30 seconds in low flame

Now add the cooked dhal
Add salt as required
pour 11/2 cup of water, mix well

Bring into a boil

Serve with love
