Cabbage rice is good lunch box food; cabbage is packed with lots of nutrients, contains vitamins A, C, K, And also it has antioxidants. It’s a better option to add cabbage with rice to have all the goodness of the cabbage. additionally, I have added peas and capsicum in this recipe.
Shredding the cabbage thinly, makes the cabbage to cook fast.
Things not to skip:
I have added 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, don’t skip this, it would help to absorb all the raw smell of cabbage
Add lemon juice, that will enhance the taste.
Add pepper without fail at least in less quantity. Cabbage with pepper powder makes tastier.
Cabbage Rice
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 star anise
- 1 tsp urad dhal
- 2 pods garlic
- 3 green chilly
- few curry leaves
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1/4 cup green peas
- 3 cups cabbage (chopped)
- few pieces capsicum
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cup rice (cooked)
- 1/4-1/2 tsp pepper powder
- few coriander leaves
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a pan, add star anise, urad dhal, garlic cloves, green chilly, curry leaves, saute
- Add onion and saute till turns into translucent
- Add green peas and saute
- Add chopped cabbage and capsicum, saute
- Add salt and turmeric powder meanwhile, it takes 8-10 minutes for the cabbage to be cooked
- Add lemon juice once the veggie got cooked
- Add cooked rice and pepper powder and mix well
- Garnish with coriander leaves
