Ingredients
- ¼ cup moong dal
- 1 snake gourd 250 gram
- 2 tbsp oil
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- ½ tsp cumin
- 1 spring curry leaves
- A pinch asafoetida
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ½ cup water
- salt to taste
Instructions
soaking moong dal:
- take ¼ cup of moong dal in a bowl, soak it in hot water for 20 minutes
Chopping snake gourd:
- scrap the outer skin as much as possible using a knife
- remove and discard the seed and fibrous portion
- chop the snake gourd into small pieces and keep aside
for stir fry:
- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan, splutter ½ tsp of mustard seeds, add ½ tsp of cumin seeds, 3 dry red chilly, and curry leaves
- Next, add 1-onion chopped, saute till onion becomes glossy
- then add chopped snake gourd, saute
- now add ¼ tsp of turmeric powder and salt
- pour in 1/2 cup of water
- put the lid on, cook in medium flame for 15 minutes (stir at regular intervals)
- open the lid, give a mix, and it is done
