moong dal bhajiya | moong dal fritters, Moong dal fritters (bhajia), is a famous food of Maharashtra. This Bhajiya is a combination of moong dhal, potato, onion, ginger, green chilly, and garam masala. But this can be made without potatoes too. Moong dhal bhajiya with green chutney would be a yummy combination. And also making green chutney is a 5 minutes job. In other words, we can call it as moong dhal vada

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Moong dhal
  • ½ cup potato (boiled, mashed)
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ginger (grated/ finely chopped)
  • 4 green chilly (grated/ finely chopped)
  • ¼ coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • ¼ tsp asafoetida
  • salt to taste
  • oil for deep frying

Instructions
 

  • Firstly soak the moong dal for 1 hour
  • Secondly, after 1 hour, drain off the water from the dal, rinse in water one more time.
    make sure you drained the water completely from moon dal
  • Thirdly, Put the drained moong dal inside the blender jar
  • Blend it into coarse paste, without adding water
    (For blending, give a pulse, mix with spoon, do it repeatedly to blend the moong dhal)
  • Transfer the ground paste into a mixing bowl, add in finely chopped onion, grated ginger, grated green chilly, finely chopped coriander leaves, 1 tsp garam masala, ¼ tsp asafoetida, required salt. Give it a nice mix
  • Heat the oil, once it heated, keep the flame medium
  • Take a small portion from the moong dal bhajiya mixture. make a patty, drop it gently into the oil.
    (first check the oil perfectly heated by putting small vada ball, if it comes up immediately, oil is at the stage of deep-frying, you can start frying)
  • Fry it to a golden brown, then take off from the oil, place it on the tissue finally, now the fritters are ready

To begin with, Soak the moong dal for 1 hour

drain off the water from the dal, rinse in water one more time.
make sure you drained the water completely from moon dhal

Blend it into a coarse paste, without adding water
(For blending, give a pulse, mix with a spoon, do it repeatedly to blend the moong dhal)

Transfer the ground paste into a mixing bowl

Add in finely chopped onion, grated ginger, grated green chilly, finely chopped coriander leaves, 1 tsp garam masala, ¼ tsp asafoetida, required salt. Give it a nice mix
Make patties (or you can put it in oil as bonda in spherical shaped)

Heat the oil, once it heated, keep the flame in medium, gently put the patties into it, fry it to golden brown colored vadas

take off once it is done

Enjoy it with Tea/ coffee!!!

Note:

While grinding the vada batter, avoid adding water. If you add water the batter will become saggy and unfit to make as vada
