sakkarai pongal | chakkara pongali | sweet pongal is traditional and easy to make sweet. In tamilnadu, people make sakkarai pongal on the festival of Pongal. And they offered to god, to thank nature for the abundance and prosperity after the harvest. The Pongal would be made with newly harvested rice. This Pongal has simple ingredients like raw rice, moong dal, jaggery, cardamom, edible camphor, and nuts. In the village. (I didn’t add edible camphor here) on the day of Pongal, people make Pongal of two types that are sweet Pongal and ven Pongal outside of the house or in front of their house. But we are just celebrating Pongal, cooking Pongal in the kitchen due to a busy lifestyle. This recipe involved cooking Pongal in the pressure cooker. Happy Pongal everyone.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients
  

For pressuer-cooking rice and dal
  • 1 cup raw rice
  • 2 tbsp moong dal
  • 4 cup water
  • ¼ tsp salt
For jaggery syrup:
  • 2 cup jaggery (grated/ powdered)
  • ½ cup water
For pongal:
  • ½ cup ghee
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp cashews
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder

Method
 

For pressure-cooking rice and dal:
  1. Firstly, take 1 cup of raw rice, and 2 tbsp of moong dal. wash it thoroughly
  2. Secondly, Put washed rice and moong dal in a pressure cooker
  3. Thirdly, add ¼ tsp salt and 4 cups of water
  4. Next, pressure cook it for 5 whistles
For jaggery syrup:
  1. Take 2 cups of jaggery in a pan, add ½ cup of water
  2. Mix well
For frying cashews and raisins
  1. In another pan, heat 2 tbsp of ghee, first, add cashews and then raisins, and fry it, keep aside
For making pongal:
  1. After pressure is released, open the lid, mash it masher or with ladle
  2. Add jaggery syrup by straining the jaggery syrup over the Pongal, mix well
  3. Add ½ cup of ghee over the Pongal,
  4. Now, add ½ tsp cardamom powder
  5. Finally, Add fried cashews and raisins, and mix well

Pressure cook or 5 whistles
Meanwhile, Take 2 cups of jaggery in a pan,
add ½ cup of water
Mix well and keep aside for later use
In another pan, heat 2 tbsp of ghee, first, add cashews

and then raisins, and fry it, keep aside for later use
After pressure is released, open the lid,
mash it masher or with a ladle
Add jaggery syrup by straining the jaggery syrup over the Pongal,
mix well
Now add 1/2 cup of ghee and mix well
Then add, 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder
