indian quinoa recipe | quinoa idli recipe without rice, As we all know quinoa is a healthy weight managing food. There are so many western recipes available with quinoa on the internet. But very few indian quinoa recipes. This quinoa idli recipe will be highly satisfying to Indians especially south Indians. Because making idlis with this quinoa giving soft spongy idlis, we can use chutney, sambar as we use it for normal idlis.

Quinoa contains high amount of fiber perfectly suits for breakfast. It has all essential amino acids and protein. quinoa contains high amount of iron and magnesium.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup quinoa
  • ½ cup urad dal
  • ¼ tsp fenugreek seeds
  • salt to taste
  • oil for greasing

Method
 

Soaking:
  1. Take 2 cups of quinoa, ½ cup of urad dal, and ¼ tsp of fenugreek seeds in a container.
    Rinse well with the water until the quinoa and lentil becomes clear
  2. Soak it with enough water for 6 hours
Grinding:
  1. After 6 hours, drain off the water completely
    Transfer into a blender jar
    blend into a smooth paste with enough water
Fermenting:
  1. Transfer the smooth batter into a container
  2. ferment it for 8 hours or over night
Making idli:
  1. add 1/2 tsp of salt, mix well
  2. grease the idli platter with some oil
  3. pour the batter using a ladle
  4. steam cook for 15 minutes or more (until we get the idli cooked well) (check the idli with a toothpick to know the whether it is cooked well)
  5. take off the idlis from the platter serve it hot with chutney and sambar
Stepwise Picture Recipe:

Ingredients: 2 cups of quinoa, 1/2 cup of urad dal, 1/4 tsp of fenugreek seeds
take all the ingredients in a container, rinse well until the water is clear. soak it with enough water for 6 hours
Soak it for 6 hours. After 6 hours of soaking, drain the water
transfer it to blender jar, blend it finely by adding little water
Transfer the batter to container
cover it with lid, Let it ferment for 8 hours or overnight

Batter fermented well
mix it with ladle

add in 1/2 tsp of salt and mix well

grease the idli platter with some oil, pour a ladle full of batter in the plate

Steam cook for 15 minutes
Just check the idlis with tooth pick whether it is cooked well or not, if it need to be steam, them steam it for few more minutes

immediately take the idlis from the platter

Note:

Unlike our normal idli, this idli needs to be steamed little more minutes, I steamed it for 15 minutes and also my idli plates are small. If you are using big idli plates, you need to steam more than 15 min. Just check the idlis with skewer or tooth pick before stopping the steam
