green gram dosa | green moong dal dosa. green gram dosa is a partially instant dosa that I meant no fermentation required but it needs soaking time. This dosa is rich in fiber and protein. And it remains a change for our normal dosa.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup green moong dal / green gram
  • ½ cup urad dal
  • ½ cup idly rice
  • 1 tbsp chana dal
  • ¼ tsp fenugreek seeds
  • salt to taste

Method
 

Rinsing and Soaking:
  1. Take 1 cup of green moong dal, ½ cup of urad dal, ½ cup of idly rice, 1 tbsp of chana dal, and ¼ tsp of fenugreek seeds in a bowl
  2. Rinse thrice or more times till the water getting clear in the bowl
  3. Soak it with enough water for 6 hours or overnight
Blending:
  1. After 6 hours or overnight, drain off the water from the bowl
  2. blend finely it with some ice cubes along with water or using ice water
  3. Bring the batter to dosa batter consistency by adding water
  4. Add salt and mix. Now the dosa batter is ready
For making dosa:
  1. After thoroughly clean the dosa pan with tissue, heat it well, then reduce to lower flame, again clean it with tissue.
  2. And then pour a ladle of dosa batter and spread
  3. Drizzle some oil/ ghee/ butter (keep the flame low for crispy dosa)
  4. Cover it with lid for few seconds
  5. take off the lid, once the dosa got slightly brown at the sides, carefully take it with dosa ladle
Step-wise Picture Recipe:
1 cup green gram
1/2 cup urad dal
1/2 cup rice
1 tbsp chana dal
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
Firstly, Take 1 cup of green moong dal, ½ cup of urad dal, ½ cup of idly rice, 1 tbsp of chana dal, and ¼ tsp of fenugreek seeds in a bowl
Secondly, Rinse thrice or more times until you got it clean

Thridly, Soak it for overnight (or you can soak it for overnight)

6 hours soaked dal mixture
Now transfer it to blender jar, if you are going to blend it in blender instead of grinder, you can use few ice cubes with water, or else ice cold water

Transfer into a container
Now add 1 tsp of salt, mix well
In this step, you can add water if the batter is thick
Now the green gram dosa batter is ready to make dosa. No fermentation required, you can make dosa right away after blending

Cover it with lid
(keep the flame low if you want it crisp)

Take off once it is done

Serve with sambar or chutney or any curry

This dosa can be served with any chutneys as normal dosa, We can store this dosa batter in the refrigerator for 3 days
